The Statistical Office of the SR satisfactorily accepted the news about the cancellation of the Personal Data Office´s statement on 2011 Population and Housing Census. Last week the Office for Personal Data Protection allowed the General Prosecutor´s appeal and cancelled its statement on the census which was published on its Internet website, on the eve of the decisive moment of the census.
The General Prosecutor considers such statement as serious infringement to the activities of the Statistical Office of the SR because it caused uncertainty among people and threatened the overall success of the census. The Statistical Office of the SR notes with regret that renouncing the statement of the Personal Data Protection Office, as requested in the Prosecutor´s protest, would facilitate the work of hundreds of Census Takers and should also change census approach, mainly of Bratislava´s residents.
From July 11, 2011, the Office for Personal Data Protection has been checking the respect of the Act on Processing of Personal Data.
