The Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic announces that the 2011 Population and Housing Census shall be conducted from 13th May to 6th June, in compliance with the Regulation of the Regulation of the Government of the Slovak Republic which lays down the Term of Census. In 2011, the public will be allowed for the first time in history to complete the Census Sheets in paper or electronic form, both forms are identical.
The printed forms will be filled out from 21st May 2011 to 6th June 2011. However, those interested in electronic counting should notice that the time available for completing the Census Sheets is shorter. As pursuant to Regulation on Census Time adopted by the Government of the Slovak Republic , data in electronic form will only be collected between May 21 and 29 2011. The time available for electronic counting is shorter in order to ensure a integrity of the census enumeration on the whole territory of the SR. Those residents who want to be counted electronically and do not take this opportunity afterwards, will be visited by a Census Taker asking them to fill out the paper forms.
The proposal of the Statistical Republic on the delivery, collection and revision of Census Sheets was fully accepted by the Government of the Slovak Republic. The term of Census is directly connected with the Point in Time Relevant to the Census, which is midnight between Friday, the 20th of May and Saturday, the 21th of May 2011. All data and information relevant to this date shall be recorded on a Census Sheet. Appointing the Point in Time Relevant to the Census on the day before a time off was due to the fact that in this time the most people reside at the place of permanent or usual residence. The census taking will be carried out by Census Takers. It is in the responsibility of municipalities to select them and manage their performance.
